Great insert peg puzzles
Since the product was brand new some off the pieces would not just slide in, since I work with special needs kids the puzzle was just the right challenge for them. For children with minimum attention skill, the puzzle kept them busy just the right amount of time so they would not lose interest in puzzle Amazing puzzle for elementary kids with severe autism. For a baby or toddler it teaches colors shapes and grasp and release exercise. Love the puzzle.

I'd still recommend this puzzle
Simple and allows my 17 month old to play independently without getting frustrated by difficult sized puzzle pieces. I can definitely see a problem with the stickers peeling up if he gets the puzzle wet but he is past the age of putting things in his mouth. I'd still recommend this puzzle.

The ideal first puzzle
This is our first kid, and this was his first puzzle. There have been many other puzzles since, but none quite match this one. Here's a short list of its merits, none of which would have occurred to me: 1) We bought this when our son was just 8 months old (it was on sale). For the next six months, the pieces became chew toys, objects to manipulate with his hands, fun wood pieces to clap together, etc. It had a life before it had a life as a puzzle. 2) When he finally started to use it as a puzzle (around 14 months), he couldn't manipulate the pieces into the slots fully, but matching both color and shape made it easy for him to decide where the pieces should go. 3) As he learned how to slide the pieces into the appropriate slots, the large knobs were key. Little brains figure out how puzzles work well before little hands can carefully slide the pieces into place. 4) Because these are shapes, the puzzle pieces can fit in multiple directions (oval and rectangle can be up or down, 4 directions for a square, 3 for a triangle, etc). 5) Now, at 17 months, our son has barnyard puzzles and wheeled-vehicle puzzles. He still has no interest and keeps going back to this one. There's something -- perhaps the primary colors, the ease and geometry -- that he likes.

Cute, sturdy, educational!
I love Melissa & Dough toys and puzzles so the great quality was no surprise. However, I was surprised at how quickly this personalized item arrived! Our toddler loves this puzzle... putting it together, learning the parts of the house, shapes and colors! He also loved clapping the pieces together! haha! The study pieces hold up beautifully to his abuse :)

Great for my one year old!
I am in love with Melissa and Doug toys! My three year old has a lot of wooden puzzles perfect for her age, but nothing for her one year old brother. A friend of mine has an animal puzzle with the large knobs on the pieces and instead of getting that one, I chose this one instead. It is perfect for him! The knobs are perfect for his little hands and I love that there are a few ways he can put the pieces back so he won't get as frustrated! The pieces are thick and smooth with no chance for splinters.

Love this!
I bought this same exact puzzle 18 years ago for my son. When my oldest son had a baby I was looking for a chunky knob puzzle for him and came across this one. I can't believe they still make these. Of course I had to buy it. The quality seems to be the same, we haven't opened it yet it's for Christmas. It has good weight to it with vibrant colors. It seems like it will hold up well even with teething babies. Worth the $8 for sure. Melissa and Doug make amazing toys.

Great, educational and well made puzzle
This is such a great and well made puzzle. I am a huge fan of Melissa and Doug products, they are always well made and affordable. These jumbo puzzles are great for toddlers and my two year old son especially likes puzzles that have knobs on the pieces. This is a great puzzle to learn shapes and colors, my son genuinely enjoys this puzzle and has not become bored of it. He has mastered how to do it but still finds it enjoyable. Puzzles are great for toddlers at this age and they are a great learning tool. I highly recommend .

Great first puzzle.
Great first puzzle. My 1 1/2 year old can easily pick up the pieces and enjoys the challenge of getting them all in. Much easier for him than the Wooden Farm puzzle by Melissa & Doug which is also great, but requires more coordination due to the irregular shapes of the pieces. Since these shapes are simpler they are really nice for someone just starting on fine motor skills.

Multiple learning skills
This puzzle is an excellent choice for one toy that has many purposes: learn and match colors, learn and match shapes, helps with coordination. The knobs are a perfect toddler size. Nice gift for 1st birthday.

Excellent choice for a first puzzle
This is a great first puzzle--it's sturdy and bright, all of the pieces can be put in at least two ways (like the oval can be put in upside down), which is awesome for kids who are just starting out with puzzles. I love that is can also be used to teach shapes and colors.
